Steinbruchel’s best release to date? His signature sound is fully on display, but this piece works within a more subtle cyclic pattern. It seems to reduce to a thin and extended thread, practically a single note before delicate re-entry to the broader and more complex frame. Careful listening will also intermittently reveal (apparently the author’s) voice within these cycles, as a near quiet exhale of breath. It’s just another subtle effect that works well here.
