For those hopeless romantics out there, born too late and way too early, 2814 is perfect to set the mood. These melancholy sounds will leave you dreaming of a better future but with the realization that it's a future we are not a part of. It's soul crushing and depressing but pairs perfectly with the futile, mundane nature of life. HKE and Telepath really set a new standard for ambient vaporwave with this album. Henry S
Mesmerizing, hypnotic, scary, sad, and beyond fantastic. For some reason my mind plays a visual of a serial killer located in a dark, dirty, dank and disgusting bottom floor in an abandoned metal asylum hacking victims apart wearing a slight grin while this album plays in the background. I know that's not what this album is intended for. Perhaps I watch one too many horror movies. But then again, my avatar speaks volumes. D dihmonik
Easily one of the best the best albums released this year.
Fennesz has created an ambient masterpiece by digging deep into some of the more familiar elements of deep ambient, but in shaking the soil, giving them a new lease of life and power.
The bass elements are deeply textured; a course drone, resembling a mumble.
There's certainly a melodic element, but they are contextualised into a somewhat dissonant soundscape, which is what gives the compositions their resonance.
